Communications & Information Literacy Coach

We are seeking an experienced Communications & Information Literacy Coach for a short-term contract to design and deliver a volunteer and staff training program.

 

The successful hire will review Asian Women for Equality's Volunteer & Staff Training Needs Assessment results and develop practical, engaging training modules and resource guides that strengthen communication, presentation, community engagement, and information literacy skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Position Type: Contract (Project-based)

  • Location: Remote / Hybrid (Vancouver, BC)

  • Duration: Project-based 

  • Compensation: Negotiable

Qualifications & Skills:

  • We will assess proposals on the basis of experience in adult education, training, coaching, and demonstrated experience designing and delivering training in information literacy and communication skills. 

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
 

  • 1. Training Planning & Development

    •  Develop and analyze findings from a training needs assessment survey 

    • Work with the Program Manager and Project Coordinator to identify training priorities based on the survey results

    • Develop and deliver a training plan to meet learning objectives.

  • 2. Training Module Development

    • Develop practical training modules and supporting resources on topics including:

      • Presentation skills

      • Public speaking

      • Community engagement and outreach

      • Community coordination and partnership building

      • Professional communication

      • Information literacy and fact-checking

      • Responsible information sharing

  • 3. Information Literacy Resources

    • Develop practical guides and learning materials (include written, online, video, checklists, etc.)  that help volunteers and staff:

    • Evaluate the credibility of information sources

    • Identify misinformation and disinformation

    • Use fact-checking methods and tools

    • Locate reliable information sources, Canadian and other.

    • Share information responsibly within the community

  • 4. Training Delivery

    • Conduct a training needs assessment and identify priorities with the Project Team.

    • Develop a training plan aligned with identified learning needs.

  • 5. Recommendations

    • Provide recommendations to Asian Women for Equality on future volunteer and staff capacity-building opportunities, training priorities, and resources.

Web Migration & Cybersecurity Specialist

We are seeking a versatile Web Migration & Cybersecurity Specialist for a short-term contract.

 

This role requires an experienced professional who can lead the technical end-to-end migration of our website from Wix to WordPress while establishing robust cybersecurity protocols and ensuring complete data privacy compliance.  

 

The ideal candidate possesses strong web development skills, UX/UI sensitivity, and proven expertise in web application security and safe data handling.  

Working Conditions:

  • Position Type: Contract (Part-time / Project-based)  

  • Location: Remote / Hybrid (Vancouver, BC)  

  • Duration: Estimated September 2026 (or until completion)  

  • Compensation: Negotiable

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
 

  • 1. Website Migration & Development

    • Platform Migration: Lead the architectural planning, setup, and hands-on migration of our existing website to WordPress, ensuring zero data loss, proper URL redirects, and minimal downtime.  

    • Customization & CMS Integration: Configure WordPress plugins, optimize site templates, and build secure integrations (e.g., embedding fundraising platforms like CanadaHelps).  

    • Documentation & Handoff: Create a clear manual backup document and provide staff with guidance/training on ongoing WordPress site maintenance and content updates.  

  • 2. Cybersecurity, Safety & Compliance

    • Security Hardening: Implement robust web security measures on the new site, including SSL/TLS configuration, firewall setup, spam protection, rate limiting, and automated backup workflows.  

    • Data Protection & Compliance: Assess organizational data handling and communication practices to ensure compliance with relevant privacy legislation (e.g., PIPA/PIPEDA) and OWASP security standards.  

    • Risk Mitigation: Establish secure protocols for cloud storage, administrative access, and digital tools to protect internal data and the sensitive information of community members. 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in web development, website migrations, and IT/cybersecurity compliance.  

  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in WordPress, web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP), and secure hosting configurations.  

  • Security Knowledge: In-depth understanding of web application security (OWASP Top 10), data encryption, SSL management, access controls, and security auditing.  

  • Communication: Ability to translate technical security concepts into accessible guidance for a non-technical advocacy team.  

  • Asset: Prior experience working with non-profit, advocacy, or community-based organizations.
